It is very likely the receiver in the hub thats bent from misalignment, this will have to be fixed to make the speedo cable spin. A quick check is to remove the cable from the hub and spin with your fingers while looking for movement on the speedo needle. If it moves, your problem is in the hub. If it dont move, it may be you cable.Get out your meter. Check and see if you have power reaching the starter when you hit your button. If you don't, start tracing the wire and inspecting it for wear. At every connection, stop and test it again. Also check each connection for corrosion and wear and make sure it is connected properly.

Run a fine piece of copper wire through them to make sure they are clear. This is the most common cause of clutch slip when hot, ok when cold.
